Program Description:

Capturing the Movement of the Water with Your Camera

Living in Southern California with the ocean always within reach, Holly Jansen wanted a way to express the movement of the water with her camera in a different way. By slowing down the shutter and applying intentional camera movement, it can create some new and unusual patterns of the waves and the shoreline.

In this discussion, Holly will outline the simple, yet effective method of capturing the movement and spirit of the water. This method can be used to capture ocean waves, but also for any kind of moving water. It will give you the tools to experiment and come up with new ways to express yourself with your camera.

Holly will outline the method of capturing images like these, but also cover some simple editing techniques that will bring out the textures and movement of the water.

Holly Jansen has a lifelong passion for photography. Holly has been exploring her fascination with light through photography since her family attended workshops with Ansel Adams in Yosemite Valley when she was a young girl.

Holly honed her photographic skills through years of traveling the world and photographing natural landscapes displaying her work along with her husband in galleries and art shows throughout Southern California. She has been teaching landscape photography and digital editing throughout the American West and Iceland since 2006.

Currently, Holly offers online and Zoom workshops in Lightroom Classic, Adobe Lightroom, and iPhone photography. Holly mentors private photography clients in Ventura County, California where she lives.

"I get my photography inspiration through traveling the American natural landscapes. My favorite locations include Yosemite National Park, Olympic National Park and Acadia National Park. I recently returned from a life changing trip to photograph the Alaskan Brown Bears in Lake Clark National Park. I currently teach photography locally in Southern California and online."
