A Creative Photography Workshop with Angel McNall

Fall is one of the most inspiring seasons to photograph — but creating meaningful images goes far beyond finding colorful leaves.

In The Art of Fall Storytelling, we’ll use the season as a creative framework to go deeper with your photography, strengthen the skills you’ve been practicing, and learn how to create images that feel intentional, expressive, and connected.

This workshop is designed to help you slow down, notice more, experiment, and tell a stronger visual story through light, color, composition, mood, details, and creative technique.

And your version of fall does not have to look like a traditional autumn landscape.

If you live somewhere like Southern California, Arizona, Florida, or another area without dramatic fall color, you’ll learn how to tell the seasonal story of your environment. Maybe fall means softer light, pumpkin stands, changing weather, shorter days, people in shorts buying pumpkins, or subtle shifts in the landscape.

And for photographers in Australia or New Zealand, you can adapt the entire experience to spring and photograph the changing season where you are.

The goal is not to photograph someone else’s version of fall. It’s to become more observant, more creative, and more intentional about telling the story unfolding around you.

Creative Fall Storytelling Presentation

We’ll kick things off with a live teaching session focused on photographing the season creatively. We’ll explore ways to work with light, color, composition, details, weather, movement, location, lens choice, and storytelling — while building on skills such as long exposures, filters, focus stacking, creative composition, and more.

You’ll also receive your Fall Shooting Field Guide along with creative photography prompts designed to give you fresh ideas and plenty of reasons to get out with your camera.

Live Image Review Session

Bring in the photographs you’ve been creating. We’ll look at what’s working, talk through composition and storytelling choices, troubleshoot challenges, and explore ways to take your ideas further.

October 30 at 12:00 PM Pacific
Final Image Review Session

We’ll come back together at the end of the month to review your progress, celebrate what you created, and look at how your storytelling and creative choices evolved throughout the workshop.
